The Passion Sells 4.1 Million On DVD Release Day
Crazy! Only second to those CGI fishies! Everyone’s buying multiple copies because they know that kids will be scratching up the DVD with all the play that it will get. I think Paramount needs to re-release The Ten Commandments (1956) with a special edition with alternate endings and bonus scenes.
Does pirating The Passion send you straight to hell?

Although the film’s sales of 4.1 million copies trails the one-day sales record of 8 million by “Finding Nemo,” it’s a significant number considering “The Passion” is rated R and has sub-titles, said Scott Hettrick, editor-in-chief of DVD Exclusive.
Another significant detail about sales of “The Passion” is that consumers are buying 1.8 copies on average, which is a first according to Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.

I’m sure you’re being sarky about the kids scratching up the DVD. Still in case it’s not obvious this seems to be one of the movies that is more prone to “evangelism” than most, so I’m sure people are buying one for themselves and one as a gift.
As an example of this “evangelism”, I’ve been told that I must see this film as soon as possible, but that I’m not allowed to pause it, and in fact must abstain for eating and drinking beforehand so that no bathroom breaks are required. This from a nice Catholic girl from Naples.
