Another Free Personal Search from Microsoft

Looks like Microsoft acquired Lookout Software back in July, and they offer a free download for their personal search. Though it looks like this one doesn’t integreate with Outlook Express like Copernic PS does. But still worth a shot if you are using Outlook. I’d venture to guess that future versions of Outlook will have Lookout built in, though the bastard stepchild OE will probably continue to suffer. Microsoft never has been big on continuing to support Outlook Express… It doesn’t generate any cashmoney, ya know.

Hey, it’s free! Have a realtime index of your PC to search from, as Microsoft’s Personal Search ain’t coming anytime soon. From the review of it, it sounds like it’s a pretty good product, and you can’t complain about the price. Neat little utility.

However, Copernic Desktop Search is far from a bare bones product. It offers plenty of useful features and options for the experienced searcher.

I’ve been using a beta version of the product for the past few weeks and I’m very impressed with its ease of use and overall effectiveness finding material on my computer quickly and easily. Copernic Desktop’s interface is a small search box on the Windows Deskbar. You can run a simple search on either your own computer or the web via this search box. For more precise searches, the program expands with a full console of controls.
