Verizon Bumps DSL Speeds to 3Mbps in Select Cities

Good to hear that more and more broadband providers are offering faster service… 3 is still slow, but hey, it’s a start…

Telephone company Verizon Communications has introduced a faster consumer broadband service to win over online gamers, at-home workers and other customers with high-bandwidth desires.

For $40 a month, the new DSL service promises data downloads of up to 3 megabits per second and uploads of 786 megabits per second, Verizon said Tuesday. Customers in 12 East Coast states and Washington, D.C., are the first to be offered the service in addition to the Verizon’s existing 1.5mbps plan, which costs $30 a month.

A $2k Blingin’ Stroller

Silver Cross Kensington Carriage

Still needs some dubs though, I think… But dang, over $2k? I don’t see no air ride, or shocks, plus those white tires get dirty fast in the city. But if you must have the most expensive stroller ever, I guess this is it…

Dave Chappelle Rocks It on Showtime

Chappelle’s For What It’s Worth special last weekend on Showtime was pretty damn good. I still think his 2000 standup Killin’ Them Softly, which originally aired on HBO and now on DVD was better, but this was on-par with his his Chappelle Show that airs on Comedy Central. I’m sure the DVD for the latest special will be coming to DVD within a few months. I really didn’t find him all that funny when I saw him live in Seattle a couple of years ago (perhaps the jetlag or something, as he just came into town from a movie set). But this show was definitely worth a watch. Available on reruns on Showtime2, 4, 8, or whatever this week, or from your favorite P2P sharing place.

Funny he’s done stuff for HBO and Showtime, and first ads for Coke and now Pepsi. Course I’d do the same and sell myself to the highest bidder, too. :)

Unsecure WinZip Offers Security Fix

But of course you need to upgrade to WinZip 9… and pay for it after 30 days as it is only an evaluation version. Figures, eh?

A fix is now available for a critical security flaw in the popular WinZip file compression tool.

WinZip Computing warned last month of a flaw in WinZip, its tool for compressing and decompressing files that runs on the Windows operating system. WinZip versions 3.x, 6.x, 7.x, 8.x and 9.x contain vulnerabilities that could allow a remote attacker to execute malicious code and cause a buffer overflow.
