Bush is Gonna Win It…

By taking Florida and Ohio, it seems George W. Bush will win again, this time it really shouldn’t be disputed at all. Kerry really failed Ohio, where jobs were lost aplenty the past four years, and in Florida, where he didn’t show his face after the bad hurricane season just a few months ago. If only Kerry would have won Ohio, my estimates would have had him winning 270-268…

Oh yeah, here’s a blurb from Dan Rather (after Fox and MSNBC called Ohio for Bush): “We’d rather be LAST than be wrong.” Guess someone got to him after Rathergate, eh?

Betting Lines Favor Kerry in Mid-afternoon Trading

While Bush was a slight favorite yesterday afternoon at -130 (meaning laying down $130 gets you $230 total back if Bush wins), Kerry at +110 (putting down $100 gives you $210 if Kerry wins), today the tables have drastically turned. The line a few minutes ago at TheGreek was Kerry (-260) and Bush (+220), making Kerry more than a two-to-one favorite. Another sportsbook (5dimes) has Kerry (-335) and Bush (+275). Betting $260 or $335 to win $100 for a Kerry win is quite an expensive proposition.

Also of note is MSNBC’s Question of the Day, which asks, “Regardless of who you have or will vote for, who do you think will be the next President?” Surprisingly, with over 476,000 votes cast online as of this writing, Kerry is ahead 68% to 32%, mirroring the wagering line. It’s been a steady 2/3rds of the vote for Kerry over at MSNBC all day.

The MTV Vote?

Will this be the first presidential election where the youth of America has a voice? With the MTV barrage and Puffy’s ridiculously named ‘Vote or Die’ campaign (though Hillary Clinton begs to differ), the 18 to 30 year old crowd has never been so constantly attacked on voting. It’s surprising that many of the polls don’t really count the vote of the young, of which the overwhelming majority seems to be for John Kerry. I guess we will see tonight, or will we? The Republicans, if they are to lose, may not accept losing and we can embarass ourselves even worse than 2000.

I’m gonna say John Kerry will win this election, fair and square, winning the electoral and popular vote. And he’ll do it on the youth vote. But it’ll be close. :P
