Betting Lines Favor Kerry in Mid-afternoon Trading

While Bush was a slight favorite yesterday afternoon at -130 (meaning laying down $130 gets you $230 total back if Bush wins), Kerry at +110 (putting down $100 gives you $210 if Kerry wins), today the tables have drastically turned. The line a few minutes ago at TheGreek was Kerry (-260) and Bush (+220), making Kerry more than a two-to-one favorite. Another sportsbook (5dimes) has Kerry (-335) and Bush (+275). Betting $260 or $335 to win $100 for a Kerry win is quite an expensive proposition.

Also of note is MSNBC’s Question of the Day, which asks, “Regardless of who you have or will vote for, who do you think will be the next President?” Surprisingly, with over 476,000 votes cast online as of this writing, Kerry is ahead 68% to 32%, mirroring the wagering line. It’s been a steady 2/3rds of the vote for Kerry over at MSNBC all day.
